# Unified Product Graph (UPG) > An open specification for product knowledge: a shared, typed vocabulary for outcomes, opportunities, personas, experiments, and everything in between. MIT-licensed. Works with Claude Code, Cursor, and any MCP client. UPG is an open specification (like Git is for version control), not a product. It models product knowledge as a typed graph: 324 entity types across 37 domains, connected by 1104 typed relationships, plus framework definitions and a compliance model. Tools build on top of it; the spec itself is free and open. ## Start here - [The Spec](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/spec): The canonical specification, covering entity types, typed relationships, validation rules, and the region/domain architecture. - [Get Started](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/get-started): Add UPG to Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP tool in one command and turn an AI conversation into a structured product graph. - [Reference](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs): Browse all 324 entity types by domain, with properties and relationships. - [Frameworks](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/frameworks): 53 famous product frameworks (Lean Canvas, Opportunity Solution Tree, Jobs-to-be-Done, Wardley Maps, …) expressed as portable UPG recipes. ## Tools (all MIT-licensed, free) - [MCP Server](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/mcp): Local + cloud Model Context Protocol servers that give AI agents read/write access to a .upg graph. - [TypeScript SDK](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/sdk): @unified-product-graph/sdk, a namespaced, type-safe CRUD layer over a .upg file. - [CLI](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/cli): The `upg` command for scaffolding, querying, validating, and importing product knowledge from the terminal. - [Skills](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/skills): Claude Code skills for the guided 7-phase product-creation journey. - [Integrations](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/integrations): 30+ import adapters (Markdown, Notion, Linear, GitHub, Jira, and more). ## Domains - [Portfolio](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/portfolio): The organisation. Products, portfolios, product areas, and the top-level container. - [Workspace](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/workspace): Spatial thinking spaces for arranging entities and exploring relationships. - [User](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/user): The humans. Who they are, what they're trying to do, what hurts, what they need. - [User Research](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/user_research): The evidence. Studies, participants, observations, clusters, and synthesised insights. - [Market Intelligence](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/market_intelligence): The landscape. Competitors, segments, features, and shifting trends. - [Discovery](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/discovery): The gaps. Opportunities validated, solutions proposed, sprints run. - [Validation](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/validation): The proof. Hypotheses tested through experiments, producing learnings that compound. - [Customer Feedback](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/feedback): The listening post. Feedback programs, feature requests, NPS campaigns, and beta programs. - [Strategy](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/strategy): The north star. Vision, mission, objectives, and the pillars that guide every decision. - [Product Specification](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/product_spec): The blueprint. Features, epics, stories, roadmaps, and releases. - [Business Model](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/business_model): The economics. Value props, revenue streams, pricing, costs, and partnerships. - [Experience Design](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/ux_design): The craft. Journeys, concepts, prototypes, components, tokens, and brand identity. - [Design System](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/design_system): The reusable building blocks. Components, tokens, patterns, and guidelines. - [Brand Identity](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/brand): The identity. Visual language, typography, voice, and logo system. - [Legal](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/legal): The structure. Legal entities, IP, contracts, and privacy policies. - [Engineering](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/engineering): The machinery. Bounded contexts, services, APIs, DDD patterns, and deployments. - [Foundations](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/foundations): The shared specifications and foundational primitives a product organisation stewards or implements everywhere. Specifications are governed specs (query languages, protocols, data formats, encodings) like NQL or Structured Text; primitives are the compositional units those specs define (a block, a reference, a query value). Both are registry-hostable canonicals that products implement, expose, or conform to. Distinct from a product feature: a specification has no single owner, no P&L, and no buyer; it is the rulebook many products point at. - [AI & Machine Learning](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/ai): The intelligence layer. AI models, prompts, evaluations, guardrails, and cost tracking. - [Workflows & Agents](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/automation): The automation engine. Workflow templates, agent definitions, review gates, and approvals. - [Data & Analytics](https://unifiedproductgraph.org/docs/data_analytics): The instruments.
